Pay revision for armed forces to be announced next week

Written by Administrator on June 24th, 2008

Government may unfold a bonanza for the armed forces next week in determined steps to stem exodus of officer cadres as well as give recognition to the hazards the forces have to operate in.

The bonanza could come in the shape of an enhanced pay package for the armed forces personnel and increasing the number of Generals, Brigadiers and Colonels and their equivalent in the Navy and the Air Force.

A final decision of the revised pay package as well as opening promotion avenues for the army, navy and the air force top brass is likely to be finalised at a key meeting on June 26.

At the meeting, Defence Minister A K Antony will lead his ministry’s delegation comprising all three service chiefs to work out new pay package with the empowered committee of secretaries headed by Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar.

The meeting assumes significance in the wake of reported dissatisfaction over the sixth pay commission recommendations among the forces which is triggering an increased exodus.

Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Admiral Sureesh Mehta would make a presentation to the committee before it submits its report to the Cabinet.

An enhanced Military Service Pay for Personnel Below Officer Rank and rectifying anomalies in the rank structure between armed forces and the paramilitary forces, and the civil services are expected to be agreed upon at the meeting.

    Sir,

If it is agreed by 3 defence services, it is most benefical to them. We can!t expect from the government to much by the forces whichis whole agent of dependenting /safe guarding the nation.

It is welcomed. Similar pay hike should be done for other civilian employees also.

Everbody is talking about the army, airforce and navy then who will consider and raise the issues of para-military forces of india. This is not fair. India has the largest paramilitary back up in the world and it is being utilized in all the spheres of security horizons and avenues however still we gotta look towards army and forced to settle down for less than what armymen are getting, in monetary terms.
Now the time has come when government should take up the issues of paramilitary forces seriously.

It is high time that the nation takes a stock of the hazards being faced by the armed forces of the nation in guarding the sovereignty of the nation.Any booming economy can only grow under the shadow of a safe cover being provided by the armed forces of the country.Countries like China are investing their money in the armed forces and are showing rapid economic growth. You need your armed forces to protect your wealth.History is replete with the examples that we were the strongest economy in the world, however we didnot pay adequate attention to the armed forces- result-the entire money was taken away by outsiders and we are a developing country now. People in our country have only short lived memories of war. When Kargil happened, people were donating blood to show the solidarity and the soldier was fighting silently to protect the very people whom he had not even met.In the booming economy like india, monetary satisfaction of the personnel of armed forces is a must and everyone should support it like we supported the soldiers during Kargil war.
All the best to armed forces, may they get – what they want.

OUR NATIONAL SAVING GRACE INDIAN ARMY ,ONLY NOT CORRUPT FORCE REQUIRE GOOD PAY TO SUSTAIN GOOD PEOPLE TO WORK FOR THE COUNTRY . WE ARE PROUD OF THEM

  9. ramu Says:

Officer/Jawan in Army already lives life with luxury. Whether a officer or Jawan, if you are close to army you can easily find this that they never touches their salary while in service. They are provided with hundred of facilities/concession in addition to salary. Morever, misuse of govt fund by officer is rampant as there is no outside check. Man/Machine at Government Service are diverted for personal use. Corruption is such that it cannot be explained in words. Only those are in touch for years will come to know this. Ask some Army Contractor, check CDA, DGS&D,CSD,MES etc.

Media report, school book and republic parade is just our imagination.

They are not saviour of nation but they are facilitator to terror group, shaking hand with our enemies to fullfil short term gains.

Job profile is different only in war zone. So Offr/Jawan in peace must be at par with civilian. So far as people do not prefering to join armed forces is untrue. It is myth spread by top army officials supported by space created by Bagra Commission. Under Bagra Commission, even non-performing and unfit officer will automatically get time bound promation and thus no of offrs in higher rank growing at fast track creating vaccum in lower rank. Also competative exam like CDS/NDA is so tough for outsider that there are few selected whereas there is no problem for serving officer getting their own non-cometative child into services.

If it is agreed by 3 defence services, it is most beneficial to them. We can’t expect from the govt.

  11. nitin gupta Says:

IT IS CLEAR HOW MUCH MR RAMU IS UNAWARE OF THE SITUATION OF THE DEFENCE FORCES.. HE MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND WORKING AT THE PENTAGON KEEPING A RECORD OF INDIAN DEFENCE FORCES TO SPEAK SO CONVINCINGLY. OR BETTER STILL A PEON IN SOME VILLAGE SCHOOL WITH NO ACCESS TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD(IN WHICH CASE HE CAN BE IGNORED FOR HIS LACK OF KNOWLEDGE).

  12. BISWAJIT GHOSHAL Says:

Difference of House rent allowance from City to City is maintaining at present in asymmetrical manner. It is running now 5% to 30%. Difference of HRA should be maintained in equal pattern to stop the rushing to higher HRA cities. It is also important to point out here that in the present age of Globalization & Inflation difference of the status of cities in India are not so dissimilar like 15% and 30%, with no questioning of 5% and 10%. So, it is my suggestion that difference of HRA of Cities may be within 20% to 30%.

  13. sudhir Says:

Hi Ramu, it seems that you are a member of CDA organisation. it is better to comment on others without actually peeping into thier shoes. Ask the reality from a serving soldier by comparing his bank account. He even cannot even save a penny in order to sustain in civil atmosphere after retirement. The whole credit goes to CDA and MES, who squezee the serving person on each transfer.

  14. murty Says:

By comming underArmy act itself an army man earns half his pay he is payed half salary for the risk he is taking against enemy and fighting them.Have we fogotten when a civilian air craft belonging to Indian airlines was highjacked our civilian brothern how they falpped and forced the government to hand over a dreaded terrorist, which has resulted in more such terrorist acts. These kurta pajama walas and chappal wearing walas are shit scared to face at least bullets. The present furore is the the culmination of all the wrong things done by various governments to the Armed Forces.

THE HEROES OF THE COUNTRY PAID POORLY IS SHAME TO NATION

  16. devar Says:

since army men are paid civilians pay and equated them with civil servants, why govt not applying civil service rules to army/navy/airforce services too,so that armymen can have saturday/sunday as holiday and stay with their family too and spend holidays/week end holidays elsware otherthan duty satation.nation will be very safe in some one hand.therewont be any status problems between person in uniform and civil cloths.govt can save a huge amount which can be utilised by politicians for loan waiver schems to rich indian on the name of poor.
