Pay panel award implementation from August
Written by Administrator on July 29th, 2008The government could announce the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission proposals as early as next month, highly placed sources said today.
A 13-member committee of secretaries, headed by cabinet secretary K.M. Chandrasekhar, screening the proposals is said to be “at the fag end” of the process. Over 3.3 million government employees are expecting a hike. The pay panel had submitted its report on March 24.
The committee screening the pay panel’s suggestions was formed at the insistence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh following complaints from several quarters. Its report will be submitted to the cabinet.
The screening committee also includes the revenue and secretaries in the finance ministry, the home secretary, the defence secretary and the special secretary (internal security) in the home ministry. The secretaries of the departments of personnel and training, pension and pensioners’ welfare are also its members.
Work on the recommendations could have been wrapped up faster but the government’s focus has been diverted in the past few days to terror in the wake of the back-to-back serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. The preoccupation with the strikes could also delay social projects and reforms the Centre wants to push with greater vigour after winning the trust vote on July 22.
Other legislations from which the focus has shifted include a bill on social security for unorganised sector workers. The review of welfare schemes like the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the Integrated Child Development Scheme and the 15-point programme for minorities could also be delayed, the sources said.

GOVERNMENT SHOULD FOCUS ON IMPLEMENTING 6TH CPC FASTER SINCE IT AFFECTS MILLIONS OF GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES BY LOOSING OTHER BENIFITS WHICH ARE APPILCABLE FROM THE DATE OF IMPLEMENTATION. THE MORE DELAY IN IMPLEMENTATION THE MORE IS THE LOSS TO MILLIONS OF EMPLOYEES

Govt has already delayed the pay commission implementation by more than two and half years.implementation at the earliest is requested.Arrear should be given from January , 2006 as it is due instead of January,2007.I hope that it is going to be implemented before Independence day.

Govt should implement the 6th pay commission immediately as the costs are already sky rocketted in view of the pay hike. The more they delay, the worse will be the effect. When all the ground work has been completed and when the amount is taken in teh budget, whats the delay now for implementing it ? Also, it will be very wise on the Govt to offer seperation package to the willing employees who want to quit the job. Why should an employ work in teh Govt service eventhough he is not happy, this unhappiness will definitely force the individual towards less productive which is a direct loss to teh Govt. Think over fast sirs.

Implementation of SPC likely to take effect from the salary of January, 2009. Till then celebrate & dance. The reason being is that Delhi elections are due in Nov. 2008. However , Govt servants can look forward to some announcement on the eve of Dussehra or Diwali, 08. Long live India and salutations to enlightened souls of the world that have visited this PLANET EARTH.

Cabinet meeting is coming and going. But the government seems unwilling to implement the 6th CPC. Now everybody is talking in terms of fiscal deficit. When were such concerns when huge schemes like the the NREGP and farm loan waiver were implemented? Are govt employees responsible for the mess the UPA has created for itself? Now people are saying that two years of arrears would be gobbled by the govt to save money. This will be a gross injustice to the employees for which it can be dragged to courts. Arrears are part of salaries; these cannot be snatched from employees at somebody’s whims. By dillidallying with the Report, the UPA govt is playing with fire. It has managed to rein in the employees by bribing the union leaders. But if genuine grievances come to the fore, it will spell trouble for the country.
