BJP demands representation of services on pay panel
Written by Administrator on October 23rd, 2008Concerned over pay anomalies for the armed forces, Opposition BJP today demanded representation of services on the Pay Commission and setting up of a statutory body for welfare of ex-servicemen.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Leader of Opposition Jaswant Singh said it was “unusual” for service chiefs to voice discontent in public, but added that it was done because of unusual circumstances.
Expressing concern over shortage of 18,000 officers in the armed forces, Singh demanded one-rank-one-pension and resettlement scheme for the ex-servicemen.
The Prime Minister and the Defence Minister should consider these demands sympathetically and address the issues raised by them, Singh said.
Singh, himself an ex-serviceman, said if this was not done, military personnel would lose their morale. “If you do not give them self-respect, you will be robbing the central impulse of military morale,” he said.
He said the government should also consider the demand for inflation-indexed pension to neutralise the impact of price rise and must attempt to eliminate the anomalies in the Sixth Pay Commission.
Singh said a statutory commission should look into welfare of the ex-servicemen. Personnel from the services retire at the age of 36 years when “they have full life ahead”, he said adding, though jobs are scarce, ex-servicemen are vital for the country.(Agencies)

why only service member in pay panel, what about CPOs/CPMF,Railways, P&T dept each of these dept is bigger in size than military. There is no requirement for any change otherwise all dept will ask for it.Moreover Vice chief of Army has already said they are happy and will abide by orders

Its right ! why represntative from all dept. But why only bloody bureaucrate (iAS)! Make an independant body who are no way either going to be benefitted or descriminated by the recommendation. Why not everyone is talking about independent body consituting of individuals who are not mental prisioner of any ideology nu only independent thinkers. There are many in this country.

BP u r right. ALL like CPOs/CPMF,Railways, P&T dept each of these dept is bigger in size than military. and will raise their ponit.
so u mean 2 say can they do task which Army is doing? no compapirsion….
like saying why a Life saving drug is so costly when its size is small and bigger medicine like asprin , is much cheaper and BIGGER in size. so why is the drug so costly.
Mr BP i think u r not aware of the world… wake up treat person for his qualities , demostrated and expected.
u know ur skin / heart/ brain are the most vital part of body if they r dameged u r gone.
No blood to brain for 40 sec … off u go out of world .. now treat the same NO blood to leg for 40 MIN ..and u r alive.
skin burns off >90% one will die of Infection.
if normal burn one may survive so no common yard stick to judge two dismillar things.
SO realise and say u love ur country and not the babu type attitude.
Army/ poloce work 24X7. post man works working hours.
others in shift…
NO SHIFT SYSTEM FOR ARMY..just work and if required die for ur country…or kill another human being.. it is not easy to kill.. try killing a bird i cold blood . u will not eat for days altogether as Human being are not manufatured to KIll other HUMAN BEING remember the film BORDER>>>>>

Dear kartik, BP, Ajay & others,
Firstly it is shameful that the Govt has handled the vi paycommission for def pers very badly. Its like you slap your best friend in private and publically announce that it will be patched up and resolved very shortly. In India the govt has become so selfish and morbid that a stage has come when the def top brass had to put their foot down to resolve the very sensitive issue of pay & allowance. How politcally right it could have been if along with along with other govt employs if def pers also got their dues. The def pers had a black diwali and it looks like they will have a grey holi too. wake up

I am servicing in Corps of EME under Min. of Defense as a civilian technical officer. Here only 0.1% officers are civilian officers who are exploring the new technology on day to day basis which has been utilized in EME for a long time. But unfortunately the credit of these has been taken by COs and immediate senior officers who are only Army officers by publishing there name as innovator of that technology to the higher HQs. and the civilian officers have been betrayed since long.
This is an old and never-ending practice. EME officers (Army) are getting big award from Govt for their technical work, but they are actually outsourcing technology and giving their name as inventor of that technology. This is done in a cool pre-planned way. Any enquiry through civilian authority against their name as innovator will reveal the fact.
Moreover these corrupt Army officers know that nobody will listen to the voice of these officers being civilian and minority in the Corps which is a real fact. Certainly the ruling Govt. is not acting for these minority civilian officers. Govt should adjust these civilian officers by removing them from Army and readjusting them to other civilian services.
Hope the ruling govt will think over it.

MR BP, U are right say against BJP leader, But what congress has done to the defence personnel from Indira Gandhi to PV narasimharao. they use to show sympathy towards them and thr real time come to help them they avoid actual promises
Later the shown the crocodile tears to the defence people. The amomoly of one Rank one pension is a burning topic from 1980 onwards a burning problem in the Defence employees, It is not cultivated in the over night to project.
whenever the paycommission panel constituted Defence asked to keep lips tight as they have no right to come out with their problems. Defence personnel in Uniform have no voice to express their problems. The early govt after the Independence shown the Defence a stepmother treatment .
Atleast u see with a good vision towards Defence Uniformed Personnel. With out them country’s security will be in threat .
What civilian people know about them how they suffer.
