Written by Administrator on December 21st, 2008

The indefinite strike by district postal employees was called off following the “acceptance of their long-standing demands by the authorities concerned”.

Ranbir Singh, president of the All-India Postal Extra Deparatment Employees’ Union, Sonepat Division told mediapersons here on Sunday that the striking postal department employees would get all the benefits under the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations, salary at par with regular postal employees and three percent bonus.

“The payment of dearness allowance would be made on the pattern of regular postal employees”, he claimed.

He asked the striking employees to turn up for duty in their respective branches and distribute the mail in the villages on apriority basis.

The strike was called off by the employees on Saturday evening.

Large number of mail bags containing thousands of letters and other articles had accumulated at the city head post office as the indefinite strike called by the district postal employees continued for four days.

At least 125 branches post offices had been locked since December 17.

In the sixth CPC along with the postal department, those who are in the regular scale of Rs.7500-12000 after 4 years will get grade pay Rs.5400. The postal department employees will obtain the same but not the revenue department like central excise, customs, service tax although they earn 26 paise in one ruppee of the Govt. I hope the job of officers of revenue department are downgraded by the CBEC. CBEC in November comes out with explanation with the consultation of Deptt. of expenditure that those who are in the pay of Rs.7500-12000 after four years will get Rs.5400/- as grade pay but it again explained in February that they will not get with after consultation with the same deptt. of expenditure. Why it was necessary to go for discussion several times in one issue? Is it not Tughlaqi style of functioning of the CBEC? Who will bell the Cat?
