Maruthi launches India's first auto gear shift car - Celerio

Maruthi launches India's first auto gear shift car - Celerio Maruthi has launched its Celerio hatchback car, which the company claims to be the India's First Auto Gear Shift. The Celerio comes with only petrol engine and is priced starting from 3.9 lakhs onwards.

The Celerio will have the option to choose between a manual and an automatic modes. The manual is a 5-speed gearbox while the automatic is essentially a clutchless manual.

Maruthi Suzuki claims that the car will give fuel efficiency of 23.1 km per litre.

The engine of Celerio is similar to A-Star, Alto K10 and the Wagon-R.

CelerioCelerio has large curved headlamps, a twin-slat bonnet grille which has Suzuki logo, gives a smiling look.The design of Celerio's body panels is to attain good aerodynamics and to have lower manufacturing costs.The doors are thin that is the width of the door is less.

CelerioThe cabin of Celerio is made mostly by using plastic and looks contemporary. The dashboard has a modern look and appears to be symmetrical.The gear shift stick can be reached by driver easily.With variants there are additional features such as steering mounted controls, music system with Bluetooth connectivity, 14-inch alloy wheels and keyless entry.

The Celerio will be available in three trim levels - Lxi, Vxi and Zxi - with the Zxi being the top of the line version. Zxi trim Celerio comes with features like audio controls on the steering, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Bluetooth telephony and a trip computer .

The price (ex-showroom, New Delhi) of Maruthi Celerio for various models are as follows:
  • Manual-LXi-Rs.3.9 lakhs
  • Auto Gear Shift LXi-4.29 lakhs

  • Manual-VXi-4.2 lakhs
  • Auto Gear Shift VXi-4.59 lakhs

  • Manual-ZXi-4.5 lakhs
  • Manual-ZXi (optional airbags upfront and ABS)-4.96 lakhs
