The radical looking Aprilia SR 150 will be on sale August onwards and will be carrying an introductory price of 65,000. This is the first time Aprilia will be offering a scooter in India. Also, it reflects the growth strategy of the Piaggio Group, which is the parent company of Aprilia. Piaggio has already been selling the Vespa models in India for quite some time now.
"After the success of the Aprilia and the positioning of the Vespa in the premium segment of the Indian market, we are further strengthening our offering in the subcontinent with the entry of Aprilia's SR 150 scooter," said Piaggio Group Chairman and CEO, Roberto Colaninno. "This vehicle is an excellent expression of the Noale manufacturer's sport expertise and offers technology and style superior to those of its direct competitors in the segment." The SR 150 will be carrying the same 150cc single cylinder engine that is fitted on the Vespa 150. The engine should be good for producing 12bhp and 11Nm of torque and will be linked to a CVT unit.
