Micromax launches tablet-laptop hybrid, the Canvas Laptab Micromax has added yet another device in its product line - a laptop-tablet hybrid device, the Canvas Laptab. The LapTab, which is a tablet can double up as a laptop when docked to an accompanying keypad. The product has been launched at a price of Rs.14,999.

The Canvas Laptab will go on sale starting May 6 via online retailer Amazon, . The company has announced that the device will be available via offline retail channels across the country at a later time.

The launch of the Laptab marks an important milestone in the timeline of Micromax, since with this product the company makes a foray into the world of personal computing. The company has been known for its low-cost smartphones as well as flat panel TVs.

The Laptab comes with a 10.1-inch WXGA IPS display and is powered by a 1.83GHz Intel Atom Processor Z3735F coupled with 2GB RAM and 32GB flash memory.
The device runs Windows-8.1 OS and will be upgradable to Windows 10 when Microsoft makes it officially available.

The device comes with a micro-SIM slot, so that there is need for an external USB dongle.

It comes pre-bundled with MS offerings like Office 365 and an in-built 3G SIM slot for mobile data connectivity. It sports 2MP rear and front cameras.

The device is backed by a 7,700 mAh battery, rated to deliver up to 10 hours of usage on single charge.
