New Aadhaar PVC Card- Details and how to apply

New Aadhaar PVC Card- Details and how to apply

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced the latest form of Aadhaar—Aadhaar PVC Card.

UIDAI said that the residents can choose to use any form of Aadhaar - eAadhaar, Aadhaar letter, mAadhaar or Aadhaar PVC Card as per their convenience. All forms of Aadhaar are equally valid as a proof of identity without giving any preference to one form of Aadhaar over the others.

Other than being easy to carry and durable, the PVC-based Aadhaar Card has a QR code with photograph and demographic details with multiple security features.

Among the other security features are a hologram, micro text, ghost image, issue and print date, and has an embossed Aadhaar logo.

The new PVC Aadhaar can be ordered online through uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in using Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or Enrolment ID and paying a nominal charge of Rs. 50/-. Aadhaar PVC Card is delivered to the resident’s address by speed post. If you don’t have your mobile number registered to your Aadhaar, you can use any mobile number to receive OTP for authentication of your Aadhaar PVC order.

How to apply for Aadhaar PVC card:

  1. On the UIDAI website, go to 'My Aadhaar Tab' and select 'Order Aadhaar PVC'
  2. In the new tab, either enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, 16-digit virtual ID or 28-digit enrolment ID and enter security code.
  3. If your mobile number is not registered, select the tick box and enter the non registered or alternative mobile number.
  4. Click on 'Send OTP' and enter it once you receive the OTP. The OTP will be valid for 10 minutes.
  5. Select the check box against 'Terms & Conditions' and click on 'Submit'
  6. Registered mobile users will be able to see the preview of the Aadhaar Card for verification. However, this facility is not available if the mobile number is not registered.
  7. Make payment and download the receipt.
  8. You will then receive an SMS with the 28-digit service request number (SRN) on your mobile number.

According to FAQs (frequently asked questions) released by the UIDAI, a person will receive the printed PVC card within 5 working days after making the request. It will be delivered using speed post services.

The 'Order Aadhaar PVC Card' service is available online on-demand for the residents similar to online 'Order Aadhaar Reprint' Service.
