Rajasthan Government Employees push Centre for Eighth Pay Commission

Recent developments in the Rajya Sabha reveal that the Centre has no plans to initiate the Eighth Central Pay Commission for its employees, according to a statement issued. This decision has spurred the All Rajasthan Government Employees Joint Federation, operating under the All India State Government Employees Federation, to announce a nationwide and state-level campaign. Their objective is to escalate their agitation and exert pressure on the Centre to establish the Eighth Pay Commission.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, clarified the government's stance, stating, "No such proposal is under consideration of the government." This response came during the session on February 6, addressing an unstarred question raised in the Rajya Sabha.

The primary demands of government employees include the continuation of the old pension scheme (OPS) and the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. Mahaveer Sharma, President of the All Rajasthan Government Employees Joint Federation, emphasized, "The Centre should immediately repeal the PFRDA Act and return Rs 41,000 crore to the state deposited under the NPS (National Pension Scheme) head."
