Karnataka Hikes Dearness Allowance for State Employees and Pensioners

Karnataka Hikes Dearness Allowance for State Employees and Pensioners

Karnataka's government employees and pensioners received good news! Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced a 3.75% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), effective from January 1, 2024. This brings their DA up to 42.5% of their basic pay. The hike also applies to those receiving pensions.

Employees under central pay scales will see an even bigger jump, with their DA rising from 46% to 50%. This decision reflects the government's commitment to supporting its workforce.

This marks the second DA increase under the new Congress government. In October 2023, they raised the allowance from 35% to 38.75%.

Central government employees and pensioners also received a DA/DR boost on March 7th, 2024. Their increase is 4 percentage points, bringing their DA/DR to 50% of their basic pay/pension. This aims to offset rising prices.
